While considerable progress is being made in reducing food insecurity in the region, particularly from increasing agricultural productivity and income, the level of extreme poverty and vulnerability continues to present major challenges for sustainable poverty reduction.

ACHIEVEMENTS
REST’s current plan builds on the achievements and lessons of the outgoing 5 year plan, which is reviewed briefly here. REST’s goal as established in 2001 was to reduce the number of food insecure households in our operational areas of Tigray through implementing the following objectives.
